MVP development, from idea to production

An MVP that tests the hypothesis with real users instead of staying a prototype

I build MVPs end-to-end: the UI in Next.js and React, APIs and services in Node.js and NestJS, data in PostgreSQL and Redis, deployment in Docker. Launch from a few weeks: the product core first, then growth driven by metrics

What is included

01

Product core

The single main scenario that tests the hypothesis, without extra screens

  • The hypothesis and main scenario fixed before development
  • The minimum set of screens to launch
  • Feature priorities: core first, growth next
  • Cutting the rest to protect the timeline
02

MVP interface

Next.js and React: screens for the main scenario, responsive layout, loading and error states

  • Main scenario screens in Next.js and React
  • Responsive layout and accessibility
  • Loading, empty and error states
  • TypeScript across the stack
03

API and data

REST API in Node.js and NestJS, PostgreSQL and Redis, migrations and integrations

  • REST API in Node.js and NestJS with Swagger/OpenAPI docs
  • PostgreSQL and Redis
  • ORM and migrations: Prisma, TypeORM, Knex
  • Integrations: payment APIs, CRM, webhooks
04

Launch and metrics

Docker, deployment, analytics and the metrics that decide what to build next

  • Docker and Docker Compose, deployment to production
  • Monitoring and backups
  • Product analytics and events
  • Growth driven by metrics after launch

Outcome

  • A working MVP in production, available to first users
  • A tested hypothesis and metrics instead of assumptions
  • A product core you can keep growing in iterations
  • Docker infrastructure with monitoring and backups
  • Code and documentation for the next iterations

How the work runs

STEP 01

Brief

Hypothesis, main scenario, constraints and an estimate

STEP 02

Build

The product core in iterations, with interim demos

STEP 03

Launch

Deploy, scenario checks, first users on production

STEP 04

Operate

Monitoring, metrics and growth from user feedback

Common questions

How long does MVP development take?

An MVP takes a few weeks, depending on the number of scenarios and integrations. I work in iterations with interim demos

What is in the MVP and what is not?

The MVP covers the main scenario with real users: UI, API, data and deployment. Anything that does not test the hypothesis moves to the growth stage

Do you build both the frontend and the backend?

Yes, the full cycle: UI in Next.js and React, APIs and services in Node.js and NestJS, PostgreSQL and Redis databases, Docker infrastructure

What happens after the MVP ships?

I take it on support: monitoring, backups and growth driven by metrics. Next we add the features the hypothesis confirmed
